Ghanaian actor and footballer, Kwadwo Nkansah, known as LilWin, has claimed that his transfer to Division One club New Edubiase was more lucrative than Asamoah Gyan's move to Premier League team, Legon Cities.

Recalling events from October 2021, LilWin inked a two-year contract with Legon Cities, taking on dual roles as a player and brand ambassador.

A 2022 report from Ghanasoccernet noted that LilWin appeared in only four matches for New Edubiase.

Conversely, Asamoah Gyan joined Legon Cities in 2020 in a deal rumoured to be worth GH₵1 million.

During a Hitz FM interview on Monday, May 13, 2023, LilWin boasted that his agreement with New Edubiase was financially superior to Asamoah Gyan's contract with Legon Cities.

"I signed a two-year deal with Edubiase. The club's owner, a close acquaintance, recognized my talent and invited me to join. He provided a personal trainer, and my skills and popularity added excitement to the league. The amount was substantial, but I prefer not to disclose it.

"Asamoah Gyan's earnings from Legon Cities were a fraction of mine from New Edubiase. In terms of salary and bonuses, no local league player could match me. I avoid specifics to prevent a surge of financial requests, but rest assured, it was a considerable sum," he stated.

Asamoah Gyan's tenure with the Royals was marked by a mere five appearances during an unfortunate second spell in the domestic topflight.

Addressing his challenging return to the Ghana Premier League in 2022, Asamoah Gyan attributed his lack of success at Legon Cities to persistent injuries.

"While with Legon Cities, I grappled with injuries. Whenever I felt in peak condition and poised to score, an injury would sideline me for months.

"After medical consultations, it was clear my muscles were exhausted. A lengthy hiatus was necessary for complete recovery, as my body appeared overstrained and fatigued," he elaborated in an interview with Dentaa.
