I’m ready for Ghana Black Stars job - Augustine Ahinful

Former Ghanaian Striker Augustine Ahinful has shown interest in coaching the Black stars should the position become vacant.

Augustine Ahinful did a lot of exploits during his playing days with Ankaragücü and Trabzonspor in Turkish Super Ligue.

And with Avram Grant’s position under threat following a run of five games without a win, Ahinful feels he can be suited for that role he told Kasapa Sports on Monday.

“You just have to have belief in the person, for me, that is how I see it.But it looks like in our part of the world, we don’t have that trust, so we will always be going into this argument of whether an ex Black Stars player can do it or not. But for me personally, I always say it’s not about experience. What is experience? If you don’t give me the opportunity, how will you know if I can do it or not. I believe since we have played on the pitch before we can also do a good job. And on my apart I have a license A in coaching so I don’t necessarily have to be with a team before you give me the national team job. With the knowledge I have acquired as a footballer, whether I have coached before or not, if I am not able to coach the U-17 team (Black starlets) then I have to stop talking about football” he said.

He bemoaned the fact that a lot of their peers are given the opportunity to coach their national teams elsewhere after playing at the highest level of football but they are not given similar opportunities down here.

Coach Avram Grant’s contract with the Ghana Football Association expires in 2017.
