I considered Kingson’s experience – Appiah

Black Stars head coach Kwasi Appiah says the enormous experience possessed by Richard Kingson played a huge part in his recall to the squad.

Addressing a press conference before Ghana’s 2014 World Cup qualifier against Egypt on Tuesday, Appiah noted that watching him play in Cyprus was not a basis for selection, adding that with seven to eight days before the match, it was an opportunity to assess the veteran goalie at close quarters.

“I felt that with his experience and the number of days I had to assess him it was worth calling him up and all Ghanaians have seen him in training and can also judge for themselves.”

“If it had been a tournament I don’t think it would have been wise to call him up, but I have been able to assess him because of the time we had. All I can say is that he is part of the three keepers and he will dress up for the game.”
