English born Ghanaian winger Callum Hudson-Odoi admits that he is not surprised by Chelsea legend Frank Lampard's rapid rise in football management.

The 19-year old disclosed that he 'always thought' the former Blues midfielder would be a great manager because of the way he led the club during his playing days.

Lampard was named Chelsea manager after just a season in his senior managerial career with championship side Derby county.

"I always thought to myself that he would be a good manager because of the way he used to lead on the pitch when he was playing," Hudson-Odoi told Chelseafc.com. "You could tell that he demanded a lot from the players he was playing with."

"It’s an amazing feeling to know that an ex-player, an ex-legend, has come back to the club and has the opportunity to work for the club, and we’re working under him.

"Every day we want to learn and keep improving. Obviously he knows all about becoming a top player so you want to learn under him and maybe one day become a Chelsea legend yourself!."

Chelsea are currently fourth on the Premier League table despite a difficult start to the season.

The EPL has been suspended indefinitely due to the spread of the deadly Coronavirus in the U.K.
