I Want To Play For Arsenal,.... - Kuffuor

Samuel Osei Kuffour says he is relishing the dream of featuring for Arsenal one day in the English premiership.

SkyTV Sports revealed that the Ghanaian defender is interested in making a move to Highbury though he did not state when.

The statement by the Black Stars player simply shows his wish to join the Gunners instead of Spanish champions, Real Madrid who are reportedly interested in Kuffour.

But Kuffour's dream to join Arsenal appears out at least for this season as the Gunner's coach Arsene Wenger has warned Arsenal fans not to expect any more pre-season signings after his solitary move in the summer transfer market to capture German keeper Jens Lehmann.

Kuffour's club, Bayern Munich over the weekend denied reports that they had received a bid from Real Madrid for his signature. According to news reports in Germany, Real had put forward an offer of US$11.5m for the defender. But Bayern president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stated that the Bundesliga champions had not received any offer from Real. "We have not had any contact from Madrid," Rummenigge was quoted as saying.

The Spanish giants who are known to be on the market for a central defender as they look to reclaim their Champions League crown from AC Milan have reportedly set their sights on Kuffour. But Rummenigge was quick to quash the rumours that they are ready to part with 26-year-old Kuffour, who has been with the club for seven seasons and is worth more than the $11.5m quoted.

Kuffour, a mainstay in the Bayern defence has won over 50 caps for Ghana. For Arsene Wenger, the club has lots of good young players and he is pleased with their attitude. He says this is a year when he wants to integrate some of these players into the squad.
