Hotelier urges improved environment ahead of CAN 2008

Techiman (B/A), Nov. 9, GNA - Mr Philip Kofi Ntiamoah, Brong-Ahafo Regional Chairman of Ghana Hoteliers Association, has appealed to metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies to help construct access roads and improve sanitation in their areas towards the forthcoming African Cup of Nations tournament.

Mr Ntiamoah, who made the appeal through the Ghana News Agency at Techiman, noted that most roads leading to hotels in the area were washed away by recent rains whilst some roads under construction had been abandoned by the contractors.

Many refuse disposal sites remained uncleared, he added. Mr Ntiamoah said Techiman and Kintampo had been cited as transit points for about 1,000 visitors to the tournament. He called on Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies as well as branches of the Association to co-operate with each other to make the football festival a success. Mr. Ntiamoah asked hoteliers to maintain sanity and adequate security at their premises. 09 Nov. 07
