Honduras To Meet Ghana In International Friendly In March

Honduras are to play World Cup contenders Ghana in an international friendly scheduled on March 3 in Nelspruit, South Africa.

According to Honduran publication Diez, the deal is almost sealed and will be used to inaugurate the newly-built 46,000-seater capacity Mbombela Stadium. It's same venue where Honduras will play their Group H opener against Chile on June 16.

The newspaper quoted the Honduras coach Reinaldo Rueda as saying the international friendly against the Africa Cup of Nations runners-up will help his side to adapt to the general conditions of the area where they will be based for the World Cup.

Honduras are expected to parade a strong squad led by striker David Suazo of Genoa, Tottenham's Wilson Palacios and Wigan duo Maynor Figueroa and Hendry Thomas.

Ghana are expected to field core of the team that went to the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations.
