Ho Dome lifts Asogli Yam Festival Trophy

Ho, Sept. 28, GNA - Ho Dome football club on Thursday put up a splendid performance to lift this year's Asogli Yam Festival soccer trophy when they beat th combined team of Ho Ahoe/Heve 2-0 in the finals.

Constance Dansu scored the opener in the 42nd minute against the run of play when in he scrambled in the ball from a goalmouth melee. The combined team of Ahoe/Heve came back from the recess a rejuvenated side as they won all 50/50 chances with higher ball possession but the strikers were unable to put the ball in the net with Enam Adala as the worst culprit.

They came close to scoring in the 70th minute but their attempt was once again denied by goalkeeper Sammy Bebio. Dome consolidated their lead within two minutes of added on time courtesy Issaka Hamid who headed home a loose ball in the 18-yard box of their opponents.

The champions had earlier wasted a spot kick in the third minute when Provo Asase failed to convert the kick as Sadiq Abubakani made a timely save.

Earlier Anlokordzi XI came from behind to beat Takla XI for the third position. Volta Regional Media X1 also played a goalless drawn game against Explicit International, organizers of the event. Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, a Presidential Aspirant of the New Patriotic Party who donated the trophies, was on hand to present the winners with their prizes.
