Former Hearts of Oak coach Herbert Addo says he is confident the team will survive their relegation battle despite their poor campaign in the ongoing season.

The Accra-based team have managed a paltry 35 points from 27 games and sit 11th after they defeated Bechem United on Sunday to boost their survival chances.

“I don't think Hearts will go down to relegation, not at all. They will stay up,” Addo told Starr FM.

Hearts were able to build on their midweek triumph over Liberty Professionals, with striker Kenneth Okoro handing them the three maximum points at home during the weekend.

"Hearts are facing a lot of challenges this term but have struggled to maintain their status so far despite the scare.

“However, I believe they have what it takes as a team to survive the campaign. They will eventually escape relegation. I am very sure about that,” he added.

Addo managed the Phobians between July 2014 and July 2015 and was replaced by Eddy Ansah.

Hearts recently appointed Turkish-German coach Can Vanli as technical director to help save their dwindling campaign.

They last won the league title in the 2009-2010 season.
