Hearts to honour coach Attuquayefio

Accra, Sept 7, GNA - Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club will on Thursday, September 10, confer special honours on Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio as the Club's most dedicated and distinguished servants. The honour titled "Most Valuable Coach of the Century" will be conferred on the veteran coach at a special ceremony at the Media Center of the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra.

A statement issued and signed by Ashford Tettey-Oku, Administrative Manager of Hearts copied to GNA Sports said the decision to honour the coach is to immortalize his contributions to the success of the Club. It said the move is also to serve as a source of motivation for present and future generations of the Phobian fraternity to emulate his example of selfless and dedicated service to the upliftment of the Club. The statement said Attuquayefio's tremendous contribution in the field of coaching is second to none hence the decision of the Club to honour him.

The ceremony will be attended by Rashid Pelpuo, acting Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Armah Ashietey, Greater Accra Regional Minister, Patrons, Board of Directors, management members of the Club as well as members of the Accra Hearts of Oak Old Players Association (AHOOPA). Also expected at the ceremony are members of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ghana League Clubs Association, the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) and other media personnel. Coach Attuquayefio guided Hearts to several domestic league titles, won the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Champions League and the Super Cup in the latter stages of 2000. He returned in 2005 to lead Hearts to win the 2005 Confederations Cup Competition.
