Hearts’ reserves beat Impilo Ghana FC

By George Osei
Impilo Ghana FC played a highly determined game on Wednesday but still lost 0 – 2 to the reserve side of Accra Hearts of Oak, Auroras in the latest of their warm up matches ahead of their participation in the Eastern regional 2nd division league.
The game was played at the ATTC training grounds of the Premiership club with the top-flight side coming out tops on the day.
They scored a goal in each half to silence the Impilo Ghana side who prior to the game, had promised to test Hearts of Oak to the very limit of their ability.
Yusif Ahmed opened the scoring for the Phobians in the fourth minute after pouncing on a defensive blunder by Prince Quaicoo to tap the ball home from the reach of the advancing Shaban Bamba in post for the visitors.
The opener increased the confidence level of the Hearts team who now took full control of the exchanges giving their less experienced opponents very little room to operate.
However, some composed play on the part of the Impilo Ghana team in midfield and at the back, prevented the Phobians from increasing the tally until the referee blew for half time.
The second session saw the Impilo Ghana team attempting to fight back from their slow start, but they gave the Hearts boys too much respect in the middle of the park thus allowing the Phobians to dictate the pace of the game.
They could not take advantage of the few openings that came their way as the session progressed, and they were duly punished for that with a quarter of the game to go.

Hearts were awarded a penalty when Prince Quaicoo brought down the player he was supposed to mark in the 18 yard box as he moved on goal.

Ebo Benson stepped up to beautifully convert the kick and increase his sides tally to two, an advantage they pressed home until the final whistle.
The two sides have agreed to play each other again in a couple of weeks time by which date the Impilo Ghana team hopes to have put their act together and give the Premier club of Ghana a very good run for their money.

The game also gave the handlers of the Impilo Ghana team a fair idea of their state of readiness for their league campaign which is expected to start soon in the Eastern region.
