Hearts register four players for second round

In a bid to maintain its high quality attacking play of the past three or four years, Hearts of Oak is at the verge of securing the services of four players. Perhaps the newest is a Togolese striker, Farouk Coubadja.

A source hinted that a delegation led by Alhaji Hearts is in Togo to finalise contractual terms involving the transfer of Coubadja to the phobian side. Coubadja’s Togolese club has reached an understanding with the Ghanaian champions following Hearts’ fulfillment of the terms of the club.

Coubadja was the Togolese player whose goal kicked out the Black Stars from the Burkina 98 African cup of nations when he danced pass three Ghanaian defenders and made nonsense of Sam Johnson and Simon Addo before putting the ball in the empty net. Hearts’ need to improve their front line is no secret despite the incredible form exhibited by the likes of darling boy, Charles Taylor and Wisdom Abbey.

Farouk Coubadja appears a somewhat safer bet as the Accra-based club purveyor for goals when the next round gets underway. He is quick on the ball and in movement, a natural schemer and goal poacher. According to the source even though Hearts front line appears fantastic with the club’s very remarkable performance so far in the league, the team still needs augmentation.

He also cited that with a good turn of speed and penchant for raiding opponents’ goal area Coubadja can be dangerous for oppositions. Another import roped to feature for Hearts is William Gbedzeke formerly of Power F/C. Gbedzeke who had a short spell in Sweden returned to the country some months ago and has expressed interest in playing for phobians.

Concluding the list are the fear-some duo who did the job for Hearts to enable it win the African Cup, Ishmael Addo and Osei Kuffour. Meanwhile 18 youth players from Auroras the juvenile side of Hearts has been promoted to the senior side.
