Hearts players are not saboteurs - captain Abubakar

Hearts of Oak captain Moro Abubakar insists his players are not saboteurs as coach Mohammed Polo suggested.

Under-fire Polo accused some of his players – especially the senior ones – of frustrating his efforts to restore glory in the wake of the humiliating 3-0 home defeat to Wa All Stars.

The ex-Ghana star has since received a barrage of criticism for his unguarded statements about his players.

But captain Moro Abubakar in the defence of his players says the Hearts of Oak legend enjoys full support from the playing body.

“I don’t think the players are saboteurs,” he told Metro FM.

“Everyone from my observations is giving up his best because when they win, the bonuses go into their pockets and not anyone else.

“We won our first game under [Mohammed] Polo and therefore that serves ample prove that we as players are not saboteurs.

“Just that in the game of football, sometimes things don’t go well and we have been unfortunate to endure some bad run of results but then the support for Polo from the players is always there.”
