Hearts pip Dwarfs

Cape Coast, Aug 3, GNA - Accra Hearts of Oak beat Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs 1-0 in a special friendly match played at Robert Mensah Stadium, Cape Coast on Friday. The match was played in honour of the late Ignatius Kwamena Ghansah, a former player of Dwarfs and the father of Ekow Ghansah, a regular player of Hearts and former player of Ebusua Dwarfs.

Ekow Ghansah, Stanley Afedzi and Kwabena Boafo, all regular players of Hearts played as guest players for Dwarfs. Hearts who featured most of their newly signed on players were supported by three of their regular players, Dan Coleman, Hassan Mohammed and Alex Tachie-Menson and were matched boot to boot by Dwarfs until half time with no scores for either side.

Dwarfs resumed the second half strongly and twice came close to scoring in the 56th and 70th minutes but their midfielders Ekow Aikins and Ato Ghansah threw away the chances. The best chance for Hearts came in the 85th minute when substitute Isaac Yeboah beat his marker on the run to score the match winner. Dwarfs fought gamely in the dying minutes in search of the equalizer but try as they did they could not find the net till the final whistle.
