Former Black Stars goalie Abukari Damba has lauded the performance of Accra Hearts of Oak insisting they have shamed their critics.

Many doubted the capabilities of the Phobians and did not give them a dog chance prior to the commencement of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League season.

The former African champions have however started that season on a flamboyant start and have won two matches including a historic 2-0 win over Medeama in Tarkwa.

Damba, a member of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) executives that visited the Ashaiaman cluster of schools to officially launch ‘football for water’ program spoke to the media on the surprise rise of his former side.

Speaking to the media, Damba said: “Accra Hearts of Oak were not given a dog chance but the club had the belief in the appointment of Kenichi Yatshuashi as head coach after many questioned the competence of the Japanese-American tactician”.

“Hearts’ performance in the first two games has been very impressive adding that tactically the players are talented; they have the belief in their own ability and play as a team as well. It is early days in the season yet but there are better days ahead,” he added.

Hearts travel next to Cape Coast to face Dwarfs on Sunday afternoon.
