Hearts cautions GFA

Accra, Nov 20, GNA - Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club has cautioned the Ghana Football Association (GFA) against declaring the nation's participants for the 2007 Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Inter Clubs Competition.

It said this follows an appeal filed by the Club against the decision of the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA to declare them losers of the abortive Seventh Week Premier League match against Tema Youth and the subsequent deductions of their points.

A statement issued and signed by Mr Thomas Okine, Chief Executive Officer of the Club, copied to the GNA Sports said, "a sheer glance at the current league table would reveal that the outcome of our appeal may have a bearing on who might qualify for Africa."

It said that it would therefore be inordinate to submit any lists to CAF as the nation's participants in the 2007 competition when the appeal is not yet heard.

The Club has subsequently requested that steps be taken to conclude the appeal before any list is sent to CAF.

The GFA will after the 12th Week Premier League matches send a list of the nation's representative to CAF for the 2007 Inter clubs competition with Obuasi AshGold and Kumasi Asante Kotoko currently leading the pack in recognition to represent in the nation.
