Hearts announce termination of coach's contract

Accra, Aug. 9, GNA - Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club on Thursday announced the termination of the contract of their expatriate Bulgarian coach, Mitko Kostadinov Dobrev with effect from August 10, 2007. Stephen Akwetey, Chairman of the Club's Interim Management Committee (IMC) in a Press release copied to GNA Sports on Thursday said

"Following discussions held between the Club and coach Dobrev, it has been agreed to terminate the coach's contract by mutual consent".

The statement said the contract has therefore been accordingly terminated with effect from August 10, 2007 and he therefore ceases to be coach if the Club.

It said assistant coach Abdul Karim Zito would in the mean time be handling the Club until further notice.

Dobrev signed a two-year renewable contract with Hearts last year for an undisclosed fee.

The coach is said to have attacked his employers on air for reneging on their responsibility of paying his salaries and other remunerations and alleging that the club owes him six months salary arrears and undisclosed winning bonuses.

Dobrev chalked success with the Phobians when he led them to win last season's One-touch Premier League but failed to retain the Top Four Trophy after some lacklustre performance that saw the Club placing bottom of the table. 09 Aug. 07
