Hearts Of Oak On Recruitment Drive

Champion Club, Accra Hearts Of Oak are bent on recapturing their lost glory in Africa by feverishly undertaking a massive recruitment drive to secure the services of some commendable players who distinguished themselves in both the premier and first division leagues in the country. Currently, the newly-constituted IMC are still on the discussion table with some other clubs on efforts to bringing those players into their fold.

Notable among these players who have vowed to don the Phobian jersey come the next football season are; William Tierro and Alfred Nii Larbi of Liberty Professionals, James Boateng of Obuasi Goldfields, Samid Okocha of Prestea Mine Stars, Prince Tagoe of Midttyland FC, Taju Mohammed of Heart Of Lions and Adjebu Lawson of first division side, St Mirren.

Sources close to the Champion Club indicates that the IMC has so far been able to complete negotiations on Ablade Morgan of Liberty Professionals and Daniel Coleman of Power FC after both players decided to stay with the Phobian family, having helped the team to place second in the just-ended league season.

It is also believed that the resilience of this no-nonsense defender, Daniel Coleman has further put pressure on the Hearts IMC to go for another Power FC defender, Michael Donkor who has also expressed similar desire to join Accra Hearts Of Oak.

Meanwhile, plans are far advanced to include these names on the Africa list for Hearts Of Oak by close of work today. The players’ names are Ablade Morgan, Nasiru Gani, Adjebu Lawson, James Boateng as well as that of William Tierro.

However, contrary to reports that some seniors players have been put on transfer, it is hoped that it is only Frank Turkson, David Kudah and Azumah Nelson who may not have appended their signatures on the registration forms for Africa as at now. This therefore will add up to 26 in the haul-up of Hearts Of Oak player-list for Africa.

The deadline for submission of all the names of registered players for Africa is on Thursday, January 15. 2004.

In another related development, former Kotoko coach, Ernst Middendorp who is expected to partner Coach Herbert Addo on the Hearts’ technical bench is expected to resume training with the boys on Thursday. Herbert Addo has already started training with the team after a marathon meeting yesterday with the Hearts IMC which comprises the current chairman, Tommy Okine, Stephen Akwetey, Clement Dodoo, Ashford Tettey-Oku, Isaac Tetteh, Francis MaCcarthy and Nana Asabere.
