Hearts Fans Storm GFA Premises

Angry supporters of Accra Hearts of Oak yesterday stormed the offices of the Ghana Football Association and succeeded in forcing officials and staffers to run for dear life before the police from the Striking Force Unit stepped in. FA officials and staffers who were at the secretariat at the time had to lock themselves up in their offices or those lucky enough to be away were advised on the phone to stay away awhile.

It was a daring move by the agitated Phobians who chanted war songs and dared anyone to stand in the way of their mini demonstration, ending up with a mild dent to the door of the kitchenette close to the reception.

Eye-witness accounts say the fans, numbering over one hundred, were coming from the high court after witnessing a brief proceedings on the Charles Taylor transfer saga and without warning, dashed for the FA offices and started banging on the doors and hurling insults at the FA officials, calling them 'criminals, inefficient and mischief planners'.

Moments after that brief demonstration, they left en-bloc to the main gates of the Accra Sports Stadium but not before they had warned that they were coming back within minutes to deal appropriately with the FA officials.

Armed with this warning, staffers of the FA quickly called in the police who responded swiftly with a dispatch of a good number of officers from the Striking Force. Within minutes of their arrival, the angry fans returned and were heading for the FA offices again but were prevented by the police. No arrests were made.
