Heart of Lions fire coach Castro

Struggling Heart of Lions have ordered their head coach Sarfo Castro to step aside till the end of the season, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal. Castro, who joined the Kpando-based side at the start of the season, has failed to spark magic with Lions struggling to pick themselves in the Ghanaian top-flight.

Castro has been told to step aside pending a management committee meeting to decide his long-term future.

“I can confirm to you that coach Sarfo Castro has been asked to step aside,” management member Cephas Aryee said.

“His assistant Hoffman will take charge of the team. Management will meet this week to decide his future with the club,” he added. Lions’ troubles were compounded on Sunday when they were soundly beaten 3-1 at King Faisal.

They are now hovering just above the relegation zone with 29 points with six games remaining.
