Heads To Roll In Kotoko?

Investigations by JoyOnline has revealed that, the Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Herbert Kwabena Amponsah Mensah might reshuffle his management team. Well-known personalities will be sacked from the management team.

A source told JOYonline that the reshuffle has become necessary due to the incompetence of some of the management members.

Herbert, who has declared his intention to resign from the club at the end of the season, is expected to carry out his house cleaning before he departs. The Kotoko CEO is also said not to be happy with the technical handling of the club by Scottish coach, Ian Poterfield.

The source hinted that Herbert Mensah, who initiated Asante Kotoko’s rebuilding process some three seasons ago, is unhappy with the performance of his team.

With eleven matches to go, Herbert’s decision to do away with some faces is yet to become a reality.

The decision if carried out would also be based on the outcome of investigations yet to be carried out on alleged acts of malfeasance on the part of some management members.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports indicate that Herbert is convincing the Club’s Board to re-engage the services former manager, Ernst Middendorp. The former Asante Kotoko coach is currently working on a two-year deal with German third division side FC Augsburg.

Middendorp, who left Kotoko after three games in the new season, is being entrusted with the job of rebuilding Augsburg to the stature of Hannover 96 and Arminia Beliefield, which he managed sometime ago.

Among the players unearthed by Ernst are Ghanaian born German national, Gerald Asamoah of Schalke 04 and Borrusia Dortmund’s Otto Addo, who features for Ghana’s Black Stars.
