Hasaacas beat Wise in a centenary match

Sekondi Feb.22 GNA - Sekondi Hasaacas Football Club on Sunday beat their city rivals, Sekondi Eleven Wise 2-1 in the first leg of a football match to commemorate the centenary celebration of the Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly (SAEMA) at the Sekondi Gyandu Park.

With this win, Hasaacas are scheduled to lock horns with Kumasi Asante Kotoko for the centenary cup at the Gyandu Park next week. Hasaacas opened attack soon after kick-off but had to wait until the 10th minute before Peter Marco fetched the first goal for his side. Eleven Wise from then resorted to a defensive play managing to keep the Hasaacas attackers off their goal area but in the 44th minute the defence fell prey to a ploy by Hasaacas that saw John Ainoo scoring the second goal for his side.

The game became a ding dong affair with the exchanges swinging from one side to the other until the end of the first half with Wise being more purposeful and playing fiercely to reduce the score line. Wise entered the second half with great determination and went into action after the referee's whistle.

Hasaacas fought back but Gerdie Boytsio of Wise played a yeoman's game when he outclassed the defence of Hasaacas in the 72nd minute to score the only goal for his side.
