Gyan extends goal tally in UAE league with brace

Asamoah Gyan scored two goals for Al Ain who drew 2-2 with Al Jazira on Thursday in the penultimate Arabian Gulf League fixture.

The Ghana captain has now extended his lead on the scorers chart after registering 28 league goals.

Gyan picked up a long ball from Yassine El Ghanassy, worked his way inside the box and scored off a deft shot for a 21st-minute lead.

The Ghanaian striker had an opportunity to double the lead five minutes later, but his glancing header off an El Ghanassy cross fell agonizingly wide of the far post.

The combination made it good before the break, with Gyan neatly putting away a lobbed pass from El Ghanassy for the home side to go into the break with a 2-0 lead.

Jazira responded after the break when Felipe Caicedo pulled one back on 68 minutes and substitute Ali Ahmed Mabkhout snatched the equalizer in the 81st minute.
