Greater Accra RFA holds Congress

Accra, Aug. 31, GNA 97 The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is to develop a curriculum towards the establishment of a diploma in coaching course at the Prampram school of Soccer Excellence to raise the standard of coaching in the country.

The curriculum would start from the juvenile level through the third, second and first division clubs. Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the GFA announced this at this year's Greater Accra Regional Football Association (RFA) Extra-Ordinary Congress in Accra on Friday.

He said facilities at the Prampram Soccer of Excellence would be expanded with the provision of more rooms to enable the players of the Under 17 national soccer team, the Black Starlets to benefit from formal education while playing football.

Mr Nyantakyi said this would enable the boys develop their minds and talents and also psyche them to take over from the Black Stars when they retire.

The President said that the expansion projects and others would be financed through proceeds from Ghana's share of the proceeds from the World Cup to improve the sport in the country. Mr Jordan Anagblah, Chairman of the RFA said the Association's immediate aim is to encourage participation in football administration. He said the Association has decided to demarcate and divide the region into eight districts for easy administration and handling of issues.

This will make the District Football Administration autonomous and independent from the RFA to be in a better position to handle their own affairs.

Mr Anagblah called on members of the Association to collectively work in the interest of the Association so that activities of the association are not brought into disrepute. Meanwhile it was announced at the Congress that at the end of the 2004/2005 League Season, Joedikoln F/C was promoted to Division One while eight clubs were demoted to division three. 31 Aug. 06
