Great Olympics demand transfer fees from Kotoko

Accra Great Olympics are demanding transfer fees from Kumasi Asante Kotoko in connection with three players who they purchased from the Wonder Club two seasons ago.

Mr Richard Oblitei Solomon, chairman of the management committee of Olympics named the players as Fussseni Adams, Aziz Ansah and Joe Louis.

In a chat with the GNA Sports, the chairman said, "Kotoko has not paid us a cedi on any of the three players since they bought them from us and our patience is getting exhausted on the issue."

He said they have written to Kotoko on the outstanding bills of the three players and are waiting for a reply from the Interim Management Committee headed by Mr Sylvester Asare Owusu.

Mr Solomon said the Olympics management committee had written many letters to Mr Hebert Mensah, former chief executive of Kotoko who did not address the issue before his exit as chairman of Kotoko.

The chairman said they have also written several letters to the Ghana Football Association and are awaiting their response and action on the status of the three players.

He said Olympics has opened negotiations on Razak Pimpong with his Danish Club because the player's initial contract has expired and "we wish to benefit from the transfer agreement," which traded him to Denmark.

On the departure of Michael Asante to Kotoko, he said though they treasured the contribution of the player, they could not restrain his movement because he was not their bona fide property, as he was only serving a loan agreement between them and Great Ashantis.

"Though we do not lay claim to any direct financial benefits from the deal with Kotoko on Asnate, Georgido could reciprocate our efforts in turning him into a super star by giving us a percentage from the transaction."

Mr Solomon assured supporters of the club that coach Afranie has taken full control of the technical direction and was making a great impression on the players.

Buttressing the claims of the chairman on the three players, Mr Oloboi Commodore, Finance Officer of Great Olympics said he was surprised by the inaction of the GFA in relation to the players adding that "if the letters were written by Kotoko, they would have taken a decision a long time ago."

He said Olympics could not give the exact value of the players because they were transferred by the Ade Coker administration, which failed to document the deals properly.

"All we saw in the files were their release letters and we expect the GFA to initiate action to resolve the issue once and for all," he said.
