Grant target realistic – Didi Dramani

Head Coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Mas-ud Did Dramani has seconded newly appointed Black Stars coach, Avram Grant for setting a realistic target for himself ahead of the 2015 Afcon to be hosted by Equatorial Guinea in January.

Avram Grant is quoted to have said, at the press conference to unveil him, that even though, he has not been tasked by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to win the trophy at the 2015 event, it is his personal target to win every game and that is exactly what he aims at doing.

Reacting to the comment of the former Chelsea boss, Didi Dramani said, “That is exactly the target of every good coach. You can’t win the tournament if you don’t move past the group stage and you can’t move beyond the group stage if you don’t win matches. So for people to expect him to say he was going to win the tournament was a bit too early. Setting the target of winning every game is similar to winning the tourney”.

The Asante Kotoko coach who doubles as a CAF Technical Instructor added that he personally has problems with a lot of people simply because of not setting such huge targets for himself which most people fail to understand.

“I personally have challenges with a lot of people who think coaches must always set trophy winning targets. Look those targets are not realistic since every competition is played to win a trophy. So it is just a repetition, if a coach tells you he is going to win a trophy when that is actually what is being competed for. So I think Avram Grant has set a very realistic target which is the obvious target of every coach and must be accepted”, Didi added.

Didi Dramani is currently the Premier League coach of the year as well as the MTN FA Cup coach of the year.
