Goldfieds have nothing to fear - BA United

The Management of B/A United has assured Obuasi Goldfields of maximum security as the two sides clash in a premiership 19th week match at the Sunyani Coronation Park on Sunday.

A statement signed by the Club’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Ransford Antwi (RIGHT of picture) expressed shock at the Obuasi Club’s publication in the media requesting for tight security in Sunday’s encounter, saying that such publications go a long way to create unnecessary tension between the two friendly clubs, as well as disaffection for the Sunyani club and the Sunyani Coronation Park. According to the PRO, B/A United enjoys a very good relationship with the Miners and have played more friendly matches with them than any other club in the country, in recent times. It therefore looks strange for Goldfields to adopt the so-called “WE WANT SECURITY” syndrome, something that is doing a lot of disservice to Ghana soccer.” The time has come for all stakeholders to make a concerted effort in order to demystify soccer in Ghana, so as to attract sponsorship from the private sector”, he said.

The statement further questioned whether Goldfields were not up to something clandestine that merits tight security? “We are struggling to come to terms with Goldfields’ call and what we can only do for now is to promise them tight security and further urge the FA to choose a referee whose decisions would reflect proceedings on the pitch”, Mr Antwi said. We see the selection of impartial match –officials as the key, since they would hold the key to the success or otherwise, of the match.

Mr Ransford Antwi, however, reassured the Miners of a very good football under very competitive environment, come Sunday. He said that B/A will continue to offer all visiting teams, including Goldfields the best of hospitality, as football is not only about wining three (3) points, but also a unifying force that can bring people together.

Mr Antwi hinted that the Management of B/A United is aware of attempts by certain individuals and groups within the football fraternity who have resolved to ensure that B/A is banned from playing their home matches in Sunyani, but promised that such efforts would lead to naught.
