Goalkeeper Kingson under fire after a poor showing

Ex-Ghana Coach Wants Reserve Goalkeepers Tested

Former Black Stars coach Emmanuel Afranie has suggested the reserve goalkeepers of to be tested in Ghana’s last World Cup warm-up game against Latvia.

He said a trial ahead of the real tournament would boost their confidence as number one shot stopper Richard Kingson has come under fire for conceding four goals against the Netherlands recently.

“My worry is maybe with the goalkeeper,” he said.

“There should be another person between the posts for the next match so that in the event of a problem with [Richard] Kingson that goalkeeper will not be afraid.

“Somebody was put in place for the first time and he was scared and he was shaking and nervous. So he should try one of the two substitute goalkeepers so they gather the needed confidence.

“I think he [Kingson] has got a problem already so the doctors should work on him but he remains my number one keeper anyway,” he told Joy FM.

There have been calls in the west African nation for the Wigan goalie to be replaced after a poor showing in Ghana’s friendly against Netherlands on Tuesday.
