Accra, March 24, GNA - Former national number one goalkeeper, Sammy Adjei has returned to pitch to revive his career after two years of inactivity.

The keeper's primary aim is to get back to serious club football and make a claim once again into the senior national team, the Black Stars. Adjei has since January this year been training with Accra Hearts of Oak, his mother club in a bid to return to his once flamboyant career form and to be back on track after attempts to revive his career last year with Hearts failed.

Speaking to GNA Sports in an interview after a training session in Accra on Tuesday, the goalie stated that his football career was not over yet and that he still has a lot to offer.

Adjei said the decision to return to full scale training was in line with a systematic plan aimed at putting his career back on track after years of inactivity.

The goalkeeper told GNA Sports that even though he has been inactive for the past years, he has gone through personal training and his appearance at the training grounds of Hearts was to intensify his comeback plans. According to the player, training with Hearts will help sharpen his skills and give him the necessary competition needed to reshape his career. Adjei, who has three Nations Cup and the 2006 World Cup appearance as his credit, said he will also seek a place in the current playing squad of Hearts for the coming season, with the national team remaining his number one target.

"I believe I still have a lot to offer the nation with my experience and I'm calling on the officials of the team to consider me for a recall to justify my inclusion.

"I think all goalkeepers as well as players should be given the opportunity before the final list of players is released for the Mundial competition since this is the only way we can all get a fair platform to exhibit our talent". He stated.

Touching on the circumstances that led to his exit from the national team after the 2006 World Cup, Adjei said, "it is a thing of the past, I don't want to talk about that any longer.

He added that "It is past and gone and we must forget about the events that led to my exit from the team in 2006. But I will like to express my sincere apology to the officials of the FA for my past behaviour since it was beyond my control".
