Give plaudits to players not me – Akunnor

Dreams Football Club head coach Charles Kwabena Akunnor says the playing body of his team should be credited for their impressive start to the Ghana Premier league (GPL).

The Premier League debutants are yet to succumb to defeat in the three games old GPL and praises have been heaped on the former Black Stars skipper for the work he has done off and on the pitch.

But he says he doesn’t run 90 minutes on the pitch and the players should be credited for that.

“I don’t play, my job is just to give them directions. Once they listen and do what they are asked to do, it either goes in your favour or against you. So everything is done by the boys and they deserve the plaudits not me.

“So far what we are doing is producing good results and we hope that will continue,” Coach Akunnor told Koforidua-based radio station, Good Life FM.

Dreams FC will host Wa All Stars in a top of the table clash on Saturday in the GPL. Coach Akunnor admits it will be difficult to continue their impressive start in the GPL against a very good opponent, but he hopes to win.

“I hope we can beat them (Wa All Stars on Saturday). They are very strong side, well respected with a lot of abilities. It will be a difficult game, but I hope we can win on Saturday.” He said.
