Ghanaians will smile - Dujkovic

Wurzburg, June 19, GNA - Ratomir Dujkovic, Coach of the Black Stars says the team will give Ghanaians a cause to smile on Thursday when they cross swords with the United States of America (USA) in their last Group E duel from which that the West Africans require a win to advance to the next stage of the competition.

The Serbian told the media in Wurzburg on Monday that "Ghanaians will smile after our game on Thursday."

The coach said the team had worked had to ensure the ghost that hunted them after losing a group game to Zimbabwe in Egypt during the nations cup, where they needed to win to advance was shamed and was convinced the team was ready to deliver.

The Stars registered an important 2-0 win against Czech Republic on Saturday to throw the group wide open, after succumbing to Italy in their first game.

When the Stars walk into the game billed for Nuremburg on Thursday, Dujkovic says their focus would be to post a convincing win that would ensure the team went through at all coast.

Ghana, Italy and Czech are all in contention for the two slots reserved for the next stage of the competition for Group E.

Dujkovic is optimistic about the chances of the Ghanaians against bottom-placed Americans, who are expected to play a physical game.

"The Americans will suffer to be able to match us. We are prepared for any team and the boys are more than willing and ready to die for a good Result."

Though the team would be without two influential players, Sulley Ali Muntari and Asamoah Gyan, scorers of the two goals against the Czechs, Dujkovic is convinced the team would thrive on their hunger for fame to travel far in the tournament.

"We have a team which understands the need to die in crucial moments for the desired results and I expect the boys to live up to expectations."

He is fiercely resisting the temptation of the Americans who though ranked fifth by the World Governing football, FIFA are still considered as the weakest in the group so far.

"We are treating all the opponents as equal. We don't expect the Americans to play it soft and our focus will be to give it our all to advance in style.

"We are a competitive team and we will display that spirit against all opponents no matter the level of opposition they may present."
