Ghanaians Abroad: Gyan bags double

ENGLAND

Michael Essien played the entirety of Chelsea's 2-1 home win over Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge. He was shown a yellow card in the 58th minute. Emmanuel Frimpong was not in the Arsenal team who were walloped 6-3 by Manchester City at Etihad.

Elsewhere in the championship, Albert Adomah played the entire game as Middlesbrough fell to a 0-1 home defeat at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion. Jeffery Schlupp came on in the 83rd minute as Leicester City drew 1-1 at home with Burnley.

Abdul Osman (90 minutes) helped bottom Crewe Alexandra to a 2-2 away draw with Coventry City in the League One. In the League Two, Jo Kuffour came on in the 60th minute and helped Wycombe Wanderers to a 1-1 home draw with Scunthorpe United. Patrick Agyemang played 67 minutes of Portsmouth's 0-2 home defeat to Newport County.

FRANCE

Jonathan Mensah (90 minutes) scored Evian TG's first goal but a late Ayite equaliser for Reims denied them a good home win. John Boye failed a late fitness test and was not in the Rennes team who were defeated 3-1 by giants PSG. Jordan Ayew played 56 minutes as Olympique Marseille went away and played a 2-2 draw with Olympique Lyonnais at Stade Gerland.

Elsewhere in the Ligue 2, striker Kwame Nsor played 46 minutes for leaders Metz as they were beaten 4-2 by Tours.

TURKEY

Jerry Akaminko (90 minutes) helped Eski?ehirspor to a 1-1 away draw with Kayserispor. Emmanuel Osei Banahene scored the first goal and set up the second as ?anliurfaspor went away to beat Adanaspor 2-0. Shaibu Yakubu came on in the 77th minute as 1461 Trabzon lost 2-3 away to Kahramanmara?spor. Kwame Amponsah Karikari played the entire game as Balikesirspor lost 0-3 away to Manisaspor.

GERMANY

Kevin-Prince Boateng played full time for Schalke 04 who beat Freiburg 2-0 in Gelsenkirchen. Karim Bellarabi lasted 20 minutes as Eintracht Braunschweig lost 1-4 away to Augsburg. Charles Takyi came on in the 67th minute as bottom side Energie Cottbus lost 1-3 at home to Fortuna Düsseldorf in the Bundesliga II. Also in the Bundesliga III, Phil Ofosu-Ayeh (90 minutes) helped MSV Duisburg to a 1-1 home draw with bottom-placed Wacker Burghausen.

At the Shucco Arena, right-back Marcel Appiah played the full duration for Arminia Bielefield who thrashed Greuther Furth 4-1. Abdul Baba Rahman came into the game in the second half for the away team. Tony Baffoe's nephew Reinhold Yabo played 72 minutes for Karlsruher who defeated SV Frankfurt 3-2.

NETHERLANDS

Christian Atsu starred for Vitesse Arnhem to a 3-2 home win against NAC Breda. Shadrach Eghan played 63 minutes as FC Twente beat Go Ahead Eagles 3-1 at home.

GREECE

Aziz Tetteh (90 minutes) scored the second goal as Platanias beat Xanthi 3-0 at home.

ITALY

Kwadwo Asamoah played full throttle for Juventus to a 4-0 home win over Raman Chibsah's Sassuolo. Chibsah came on in the 71st minute. Afriyie Acquah played 90 minutes as Parma drew 0-0 with Cagliari at home.

Kingsley Boateng was an unused substitute for Catania who drew goalless with Hellas Verona. Francis Boateng was not in the Verona team. Alfred Duncan lasted the entire game as Livorno lost 0-2 away to Lazio. He was shown a 74th-minute yellow card. Masahudu Alhassan played 90 minutes of Latina's 2-3 home loss to Crotone in the Serie B.

BELGIUM

Daniel Opare played the entire game as Standard Liege beat Genk 3-1 at home. Bernard Kumordzi played 66 minutes for Genk. Frank Acheampong came on in the 73rd minute and provided the assist for the winner as Anderlecht went away to beat Gent 2-1. Nana Akwasi Asare played 90 minutes for the losing side.

UAE

Asamoah Gyan netted a brace and played full time as Al Ain beat Al Shaab 5-2. Emmanuel Clottey was on the bench for Al Dhafra who beat SC Dubai 3-2.

Fred Dabanka played 90 minutes at the heart of defense for Al Ahli who thrashed Al Sailiya 5-2. Barro was replaced by the Sailiya in the second half.
