Ghana will make it to 2014 World Cup – Accam

Ghana striker David Accam is confident that the Black Stars will qualify for the 2014 Fifa World Cup, despite competition from Zambia in Group D. The Chipolopolo of Zambia are trailing the four-time African champions with just a point.

“Ghana is doing really well,” the Helsingborg forward told the official RtD website. “We have one of the best squads in Africa and on a good day we can beat any other team in our group. We have a good chance of qualifying.”

Ghana beat Lesotho in Maseru on Sunday and will play the Chipolopolo of Zambia at home in September in the last group game.

“I know Zambia is a good team. I think they won the Africa cup of Nations a year ago, but with our squad, on a good day we should beat them,” he added.

Accam, 22, was part of the Ghana team that played against Sudan at home and is hoping to gain a recall to the team following his excellent performances in recent times, winning three Man of the Match Awards in a row in Sweden.

“At the moment, I’m playing well so I hope I continue playing well because I know that if I continue playing well, I will get the chance to play for Ghana again.”

“It was a very good experience. I used to watch Sulley Muntari and Asamoah Gyan a lot on TV. They were really nice to me. They spoke to us a lot of times. He [Gyan] is good leader both on the field and outside it,” he added.
