Ghana striker Asamoah scores again for Carlisle

Veteran Ghana striker Derek Asamoah continued his impressive form for Carlisle as he scored his fourth goal in five games to give the League Two side an important victory against Accrington Stanley.

Asamoah, who was making his first start at Brunton Park, beat the offside trap to race onto Billy Paynter’s pass and slot past keeper Jack Rose.

The Ghanaian could have added a second shortly after the break, but he was denied by the Accrington goalkeeper Jack Rose, who pulled a world-class save.

The 33-year-old’s goal moved Keith Curle’s side two places up to 20th in League Two.
