Ghana becomes 5th African country to get to a 2nd round

Ghana, which has ended second in Group G at the World Cup convening in Germany, is the fifth African nation to advance to the second round of football World Cup finals.

Morocco staged the same performance in 1986, followed by Cameroon in 1990 and Nigeria in 1994 and 1998, while Senegal went further to the quarter finals of the contest four years ago. The Black Stars, second in Group G, lost 0-2 to Italy but defeated the Czech Republic 2-0 and the US 2-1 to advance to the eighth finals of World Cup 2006.
