Ghana Through to Semi-Finals

Accra, Nov 1, GNA - The Black Queens of Ghana, on Wednesday secured a place in the next stage of the on going Africa Women Soccer Championship in Nigeria after beating Cameroon 2-1 in the second group game in Oghara.

The Queens scored first through Anita Amankwah in the 27th minute but the Cameroonians equalised in the 52nd minute through Bella Francoise. After more than 38 minutes of labour, the Queens, who beat the Cameroonians in a similar fashion in the last competition scored an injury time goal in the 93rd minute through Amankwah to grab the three maximum points for Ghana.

Ghana will play DR Congo, in the last group game, which could be more of an academic exercise, as the Ghanaians have already qualified. The Queens are likely to face to South Africa in the next stage.
