Ghana Seeded As Number Two For Nations Cup

Mali, Cameroon, South Africa and Egypt have all been seeded as first seeds in next years African Cup of Nations tournament to be hosted by Mali.

Ghana and Nigeria irrespective of their dominance on the African soccer scene have both been seeded as number two alongside Tunisia and DR Congo.

Regulations for the 23rd edition of the African Cup of Nations for participating teams, performance during the 1996, 1998 and year 2000 African Nations Cup editions were used in determining their seeds.

The year 2000 editions points would be multiplied by 3,and the 1998 by 2. The 1996 edition would also be multiplied by 1.

The new system is subject to approval by the Cup of Nations Organising Committee at its next meeting slated for 6th September in Mali.
