Ghana Moves Up in FIFA rankings

Ghana moved up on the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola monthly rankings from 62nd to 55th position.

According to the ratings released yesterday in Switzerland, Ghana has moved to the 9th position in Africa. France are leading the World chart and are pursued by Brazil while Argentina are third, Italy fourth and Germany fifth.

Some African teams have also hit the headlines. Two resounding wins have secured Tunisia a berth in the World Cup final competition for the third time,' reported FIFA. 'Now ensconced in 22nd place (up 7), they are thus the best African team over and above South Africa and Morocco. Nigeria can also be seen to be moving up in the distance (39th, up 6), while Senegal (70th, up 10) and Algeria (72nd, up 11) also deserve a mention.'

The next rankings will be released on August 22.
