Mr. Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah, President of Ghana Amputee Football, has appealed to individuals and corporate bodies for financial support for the ongoing amputee football league, as they set sights into making the sports a popular one in Ghana.

Amputee football has been faced with lots of challenges ranging from the lack of equipment, poor infrastructure, social stigmatization, low self-esteem, in-fighting among stakeholders and exploitation of the athletes involved in the sport.

But Mr. Ofosu Yeboah, who is former United State of America (USA) Amputee Footballer, has highlighted the numerous challenges they face in organising this year's league and has called on corporate bodies and other stakeholders to offer massive support for growth of the game.

In an interview with GNA Sports, Mr. Ofosu Yeboah said, ''Organising the league has been difficult, because we have various teams travelling all across the country to gather at one particular venue to play a single match on the same day of arrival due to inadequate finances.

''But I urge corporate bodies as well the government to come to our aid because very soon it will become a very popular sport in Ghana and around the World. If we are able to do things in the right direction, it would offer athletes a massive job opportunity and help grow the abundant of talents in the country.''

Meanwhile, the ongoing amputee football league entered the second week with some thrilling contests at the Kotobabi Wembley Park last Saturday.

Gye Nyame continued their relentless form in the league after thrashing Amugisco 6-0 but Hope For Further kept the chase at the top of the league table with a 1-0 win over Asanteman.

Other results saw Ayawaso extending their winless run after suffering 3-0 defeat against Global whilst Kumapim Stars suffered their second defeat of the season when they succumbed to 5-0 defeat to Eefsa side.
