Ghalca Makes a Million From Top Four Competition

The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) made ?1 million gains from the recent competition dubbed GHALCA Top Four played among four clubs in the premier league.

Mr. Kudjo Fianoo,the Administrative Manager of GHALCA in an interview with the GNA sports said they spent approximately 62 million cedis on pre-financing the competition and after the competition the net profit for the association was one million cedis.

Mr . Fianoo said each club was given five million cedis as well as money for transportation together with the prize money and other expenses to make the competition a success.

He said they would have run into a huge debt if the final match between Hearts and Liberty had not been played on Independence Day March 6th, adding that before that match, the association was on the verge of incurring a big debt.

The GHALCA scribe however said they are not worried about the profit motive, but its success and the contribution to Ghana soccer since it is the first time such an event is being organised.

He said the event would be an annual one but added that they would do their best to attract sponsors for the competition next year.

Mr. Fianoo said they are going to adopt an appropriate marketing

strategy in order to attract the needed sponsorship.

Mr. Fianoo congratulated new GALA lords, Brong Ahafo United, for winning the competition for the first time and expressed the hope that they would translate their performance onto the premier league
