Gargo's return dependent on RTU's survival

Accra, April 17, GNA - Former Ghanaian international, Mohammed Gargo says his return to active soccer with relegation threatened Real Tamale United (RTU) will be dependent on their premiership survival.

The player, who earlier this season was linked with a move to his former club told GNA Sports "my going back to the club I offered myself to serve months ago strictly rest on their survival in the Premier League."

The Tamale based club is four places off the relegation zone and needs at least three points in the last two games to stay in the elite division.

The former Udinese ace still gives the "pride of the north" the first option though some big clubs within the country have expressed keen interest in wooing him.

Gargo offered to serve RTU for free a few months ago but the club's management received the offer with cold shoulders.

"The management didn't prove how much they needed me. They did very little to get my International Transfer Certificate (ITC) to enable me to play.

"If I do not see any change in that regard, I will be compelled to accept an offer from the numerous clubs knocking at my door for my services and experience".

The defender was tightlipped about the teams pursuing him. Gargo, retired from international football in early 2000 after a glittering career with the various national teams that spanned several years.

The player whose trademark - powerful shots won him lots of admiration remained a constant figure for the Black Stars before his retirement.

He last played for Al-Wakra of Qatar in 2006.
