Banjul, Gambia, May 11, GNA - Referee Alex Kotey of Ghana will handle his first game at the ongoing Sixth Africa Under-17 Tournament in Gambia, on Wednesday, May 11.

Referee Kotey will be in the middle of the game between Nigeria and Zimbabwe at the Independence Stadium, the main venue for the two-week event.

The Ghanaian will be assisted on the lines by referees from Benin and Cape Verde, the GNA Sports gathered. They are Alexis Fassinou and Allam Costa.

The game is the Ghanaian's second in the tournament having served as the fourth referee in the game between Nigeria and South Africa. Wednesday's match will be his first assignment on the centre line. Kotey who turned FIFA referee in 2002 is the only Ghanaian in the tournament.

His continued stay in the tournament will largely depend on his performance and the endorsement of the appointment committee.
