Banjul, Gambia, May 13, GNA - The Disciplinary Committee of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has imposed a fine of 1,000 dollars on Nigeria for using jerseys without names of their players at the back.

The fine is in line with Article 38 paragraph 4 of the regulations guiding the on going Africa Under-17 tournament in Gambia. The Article reads, "for the final competition, the names of each player must be written on the back of his shirt, above his number".

The Nigerians, however in their first match against South Africa at the Independence Stadium, did not adhere to the rules and it was reported in the Match Commissioners report.

A statement issued from the Committee stated that the fine was imposed on Nigeria for disrespecting the rules guiding the football championship.

The Nigerians have therefore been warned to place the names of their players at the back of their jerseys in their next match in order to avoid further punishment from the Disciplinary Committee of CAF.

The Golden Eaglets, however rectified the situation in their second match against Cote d' Ivoire.

In another development, coach Godwin Izillien of the Golden Eaglets has vowed to quit if the team fails to advance to the semi finals of the competition.

The coach made this revelation in a post match press conference after his side was defeated 3-2 by their Ivorian counterparts on Wednesday.

Coach Izillien's side are currently placed third in group B, with one point from two matches and are scheduled to play Zimbabwe in their last group game on Saturday.
