GUSU starts nationwide registration

The Ghana United Supporters Union (GUSU) a new dynamic supporters group in Ghana, is set to commence with the first ever nationwide online registration. Executives of GUSU are excited about the innovation which they say will fast track their activities. Already the group has secured 6 luxury air conditioned buses from Accra to Kumasi for the World Cup qualifier between the Black Stars and Zambia on Friday 6th September.

''This is not a new thing globally but here in Ghana, it has taken some time to kick start and we are proud to be setting the pace'' According to the National Secretary of GUSU Rebecca Donkor, the demand for membership of GUSU has taken them by surprise especially as the Union has not officially launched yet.

With their motto of; all for Ghana, Ghana for all, GUSU embraces all Ghanaian sports fans living at home and abroad but have specifically set their sights on registering adult students, graduates, young professionals and career people. GUSU hopes to attract its core members from people who believe they have the voice and energy to rally around all national sports teams anywhere in the world.

GUSU which was formed in March of 2013 made their debut appearance at a national event with five bus loads of supporters when the Black Stars of Ghana took on their Sudanese counterparts in their world cup qualifiers at the Baba Yara stadium.

According to the national coordinator of GUSU, Yaw Gyamfi Kusi Awere, there have been several calls from interested people to join the group due to their professionalism in terms of branding, how they conduct ourselves and their independence. '‘We are proud to say that our union does not rely on freebies because we feel that we must rather contribute and support our national teams as responsible citizens''

The group also announced their facebook page and the launch of an official website. GUSU will conduct a massive cleanup exercise on the morning after the match in Kumasi as their show of solidarity and social responsibility which is part and parcel of the GUSU constitution.

GUSU is currently preparing for the world cup qualifier between Ghana and Zambia at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi slated for Friday 6th September and according to National Secretary Ms Rebecca Donkor, GUSU has the most attractive package for the game.

‘’what we (GUSU) are offering is the best package you will ever get for the game. A charge of 50gh will cover your transportation, match ticket and a t-shirt amongst other goodies’’.
