GLICO gives $4,000 to Black Stars for goals scored at Afcon

GLICO has presented a cheque for GHC 8,000 ($4,000) to the Black Stars in fulfillment of a pledge it made prior to the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa earlier this year.

The insurance giants pledged to pay the Black Stars GH 2,000 Cedis per goal scored from the quarter finals stage of the Africa Cup of Nations held in South Africa.

The Black Stars beat Cape Verde 2-0 in the quarter-finals, drew 1-1 with Burkina Faso after extra time before losing on penalties in the semi-finals. They also lost 3-1 to Mali in the third-place play-off, bringing the total goals scored by the Black Stars from the quart finals to 4.

GFA Vice President Fred Crentsil and Assistant Black Stars Coach Maxwell Konadu received the cheque on behalf the Black Stars.
