GHALCA outlines media plan for President's Cup

Accra, June 9, GNA - The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) has outlined the media plan for this year's President's Cup billed for Wednesday, July 1.

The plan is aimed at promoting awareness with respect to one-off match to be played between two Premier League Clubs in honour of the country's first citizen, President John Evans Atta Mills. Emmanuel Adotey, Chairman of GHALCA at a press briefing in Accra on Tuesday, mentioned many innovations including a trophy tour of the regions as part of efforts towards promoting the event.

He announced that as a novelty, a percentage of the gate proceeds will be channeled through the development of grassroots soccer. Neil Armstrong Mortagbe, GHALCA Treasurer described the innovations as a major effort towards the realization of set goals and an event befitting the Presidency.

He mentioned the Trophy Tour, Official Game Song, Bus Parade and Pre-Game Press Conference among others aimed at promoting the one-off match ahead of the scheduled time.

The GHALCA Treasurer said his outfit has arranged a curtain raiser involving teams of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) and the Actors Guild.

Neil Mortagbe said the details of the match will be unveiled during the Official Launch of the event on Wednesday, June 17. According to GHALCA Officials, the participating clubs will also be announced at the launch of the event.
