GHALCA elects new Officers

Accra, Sep. 1, GNA - Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) on Friday, elected Mr Emmanuel Adotey, Chairman of Power F/C as the Chairman of the Association.

In a keenly-contested election at the Secretariat of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in Accra on Friday, which lasted for almost four hours, Adotey polled 72 votes to defeat his main contestant, Alhaji Ali Raji, Chairman of Sekond Eleven Wise Football Club and a businessman who polled 34 votes. Mr Kwame Ntow Fianko, Chairman of the Division One League Board was elected the Vice Chairman.

He polled 62 votes to beat his other two contestants, Kofi Manu alias 'Blue Blue' who had 42 votes with Mr David Mawuli Fugah, a member of Accra Great Olympics Management Board managing only two votes. Mr Neil Armstrong Mortagbe, Chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak Chapters Committee was elected Treasurer after he polled 52 votes to beat Mr Samuel Williams, Chairman of Tema Youth F/C who had 42 votes. Mr Kwame Baa Nuako, Communications Officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Mr Ashford Tetteh Oku of Accra Hearts of Oak were elected as Premier League Representatives.

They polled 75 votes each as against Isaac Bansom, Chairman of Tema Real Sportive who had 31 votes.

Mr John Mensah of Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs and Mr Jeff Oteng Arthur of the Eastern Regional Football Association were also elected as Division One League and Division Two League representatives respectively.

The newly elected Chairman thanked members for the confidence reposed in him and asked them to co-operate with the officers to enable them discharge their duties efficiently.

Mr Joseph Yaw Appiah, out-going Chairman of the Association, who served the Association for the past 11 years, said even though he was leaving office he was ready to put his expertise at the disposal of the Association.

He asked all the Clubs to do away with litigation and petty squabbles so ensure that this year's Premier League can begin in earnest.
