GFA releases draft report on 2004 Athens Olympic Games

Accra, Oct 26, GNA - The Ghana Football (GFA) has released a draft report on the performance of the national under 23 team, Black Meteors in the just ended Olympic Games held in Athens, Greece.

The report dwelled on factors such as skills, speed and penetration up front and on the flanks, good positional play, one outstanding player who could turn the game around and quickness to recover after losing the ball.

Other areas considered are exertion of pressure on ball carrier, well-organised defence, always looking to outnumber opponents and strong heading in defence.

The report identified outstanding members of the team who stood out in many areas of the criteria set as goalkeeper George Owu for his good goal keeping skills and his ability to marshal the defence, Stephen Appiah for being an excellent playmaker and for also being extremely skilful and mobile.

Other players identified for their good performance are Asamoah Gyan for being very mobile and skilful whilst at the same time keeping defenders busy and creating spaces for other team-mates. Daniel Coleman was also singled out for praise for being a solid defender who is very good in the air, well composed and comfortable on the ball.
