GFA must appoint Tanko as Stars coach – Kuffour

Ex-Ghana international Samuel Osei Kuffour has advised the Ghana Football Association against appointing a foreign coach for the Black Stars.

The 2001 Uefa Champions League winner wants Ibrahim Tanko, an ex-international and current assistant coach of Cameroon, to be handed the job.

Three European coaches- Avram Grant, Michel Pont and Juan Ignacio Jimenez-have been interviewed and announcement on the next Ghana coach expected soon.

Local media reports have linked either former Chelsea manager Grant or Pont for the job.

But Kuffour has questioned the pedigree of all the coaches.

“All the coaches who were interviewed who are they? What have they done? Grant took Chelsea to the Champions League final but for me that was not enough,” the Bayern Munich legend told TV3 Talk Sports programme.

“They should give the job to Tanko and beef him up.

“We have people who can do the job very well.”
