GFA considering friendlies for women's team

The Ghana Football Association is looking at the possibility of fixing international friendlies for the national women's team on FIFA free dates.

The Black Queens are only active during continental qualifiers or championships and that has affected its rating.

Ghana, ranked 49th in the latest FIFA rating, failed to progress from the Group stage of the 2010 African Women Championship in South Africa.

The Ghana FA believes getting the team busy can revive the fortunes of the two-time World Cup finalists.

"It's a very laudable idea. We will meet and decide on that since there is nothing like that for the women. I think it will help improve the team," Ghana FA Technical Director Oti Akenteng told locally-based radio station Happy FM.
